Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2/14/26

My 6th book of the year is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I am just going to dive straight in because if you haven’t read the books, watched the movies, or have heard of Harry Potter by now, then I would be impressed. I started listening to the series on audiobook last year. I am using a lovely app called Libby, to get my audiobooks for free, but because of that, I do have to wait a little before I can read it because the hold line is normally really long. But finally, I got it and again, like the others, I zipped through it because of how much I enjoyed the book. I believe the narrator I am listening to is Jim Dale, if I remember correctly. I am really enjoying him reading the book.

I love Harry Potter, but I will sadly admit that I have not finished reading the series. Even my little sister finished before I did. And since it has been so long since I had read any of it, I thought I would just start from the beginning again. But I wanted to give it a try on audiobook and let me tell you, I am glad I made that choice.

For the unlikely chance that you don’t know this book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban take place during Harry’s 3rd year of wizarding school. During this time, he and his friends are exploring new electives, getting to go down to the local wizard village, evolved in various other activities. But there is always something causing them trouble, and this year, it is a mad man that escaped from Azkaban, looking to find and kill Harry. So, with everyone keeping close tabs on him, him having to learn advance spells to stay safe from the Azkaban guards, while trying to keep Ron and Hermione from tearing each other apart, will Harry be able to make it to the end of the year?

I again, really enjoyed this book. I am liking all the books so far, but I just think it is really cool finally being able to compare them to the movies. One of my favorite things to do is to compare books and movie adaptations, to see how closely they tried to stick with the original. I will be talking SPOILERS now. Something I found really interesting is how Crookshanks is talked about more and is more important in the book then he is in the movie. I had no idea that Crookshanks was the one to help them get into the Whomping Williow tree, or that he was even helping Sirus Black. That was not something they kept when they made the movie, so it was fun seeing that. Another thing I found interesting is how much more Ron and Harry would question Hermione in the book for how she was making it to her classes then they did in the movie. It is almost something to be forgotten about when it came to the movie versus how much more it is focused on in the book. One thing I did like from the movie thought that the book didn’t have, was that Hermione was the one that pulled Werewolf Lupin away from the others. It wasn’t just him running into the woods. It gave everything a more stressful tone in the movie that I really enjoyed.

I really recommend reading this series if you want something to binge that includes magic, boarding schools, adventure and more. Again, this was such a fun read, highly recommend Jim Dale for Audiobook. That is going to be all for today. Happy Readings!
